Spring

I, like most people love to get out of the house when the weather starts warming up, but that can stall my family history research. I don't know about you but I sometimes get in a rut of only doing research at home on the computer. So I tried to think of ways to get out of the house and still get some research done.

1. Take a trip to a cemetery...take those pictures
2. Visit the courthouse..enjoy the drive
3. Explore the town of your relatives...again take those pictures
4. Take a walk..clear your mind and just enjoy being in the beautiful outdoors
5. Visit the library..while doing research at my library I can sit in front of a bay of windows
that overlook a park

So, start thinking of ways you can get out there and research at the same time, and let me know what works for you.

Have a blessed day

Unexpected Blessings

Another unexpected blessing. I was searching for an article in an Ohio news paper, so I called a local library there, they not only found the article that I was needing but went the extra mile and looked for any other information they could about my ancestor. They did find other information and with a couple of long distance calls they are now sending me copies of everything they found. I am new to genealogy research, but without fail every person that I have contacted has gone the extra mile without hesitation. I just hope that someday I will be able to be a blessing to someone else, and go that extra mile.

So go out and be a blessing to someone today!

Keep Asking

Just a quick note to encourage you to keep asking those family history questions. I just received an e-mail from a cousin with new information. He sent me a picture of my grandfather that was taken when he was around 2, he thought he had already sent it to me, so it was a good thing that every now and then I e-mail and ask if he knows anything new. Sometimes when your asked a question you can't think of the answers till later and it helps when people ask again....so ask!!!

Thats all for today......SO GO OUT THERE AND ASK those questions

"Time Flies" is not just a saying

I can't believe that it is already the end of Feburary! When I decided to quit my job and stay home I thought it would allow me more time to get things done. Boy was I wrong! It seems that each week I have such great plans and each week God shows me that He is the one with the plans, not me. God has been so very gracious, he knew all the things that were coming and made provision for me to be at home so that I wouldn't stress over working around my job. I have been blessed with "some" time to work on my family history and have found really interesting information about my family. I hope to be able to work on my DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) paperwork next week. If anyone else is working on their family tree and have any tips let me know. I hope this will be a blog of tips and hints from not only me but others.

Have a Blessed Day
